Ev & Flow: The Weekend Rolls In

Written By Courtney Hartmann Tisa

Let’s be honest, San Diegans can never pass up a good 5K. With a race happening nearly every weekend, there are those with costumes, themes, and sometimes, if you’re lucky, delicious prizes. The popularity of these 5Ks is partially due to our great, year-round weather that lends itself to good running or, at the very least, some brisk walking.

If you’ve always wanted to participate in a 5K or just want to get an edge on your 2017 exercise goals, why not try one of these on for size? As a known, health-conscious city, San Diego invites you to its streets to meet and compete with neighbors and friends.

Can’t make this round of races? Don’t worry, there will be plenty of to choose from in the new year ahead. Consider signing signing up for one or more!

Weekend Happenings

Ever think about taking a class? Whether it’s to further your education, learn a new language, or just for fun, there are plenty of classes out there for trying something new. Cooking classes at Sur La Table or Hipcooks offer different menus throughout every week of month. Impress your friends with your new knife skills and host a meal at home to demonstrate what you’ve learned.

Feel silly and make people laugh, improve your communication skills, and face your shy side head-on with classes at Finest City Improv. You might be surprised how one or two improv classes help you feel more confident in other areas of your life. You might also consider the art of self-defense with krav maga or sign up for a new exercise class at the gym.

Whatever “new” thing you decide to do doesn’t have to be a complete turnaround from what you’re used to. Think about the things you’ve always wanted to try or places you’ve been wanting to see and start making a list. Check it twice and make a point to tackle something from it at least once a week.

Maybe that something includes a yoga class at Headquarters, which are held every weekend, or perhaps it’s seeing a show solo. With the new year upon is, isn’t it reason enough to get outside your comfort zone and see just how much this great city has to offer? We’d like to think so.

Good, better, best. Never let it rest. ‘Till your good is better and your better is best.
